Hi there! I’m Kyle Gililland. I realized many moons ago that, while I love to talk and write, I don’t run into too many that necessarily want to listen to what I have to say. Hence, this blog. If you’re here, you may be interested in some of the same things I am… or you could have just clicked the wrong link. Either way, I am glad you’re here!

I’m a California-attorney and I have spent the bulk of my career helping folks protect their assets. Prior to getting into the law, I began my career in IT, largely focused on regulated environments, like finance. I had always loved technology, but soon realized I enjoyed the compliance world, as well. So, in the mid-2000’s I went to law school in an attempt to merge my technical expertise with what I saw on the horizon… a litany of security and privacy regulations that would take the industry by storm.

Following law school, I did several things… I started a legal practice focused on estate planning, business law, and cybersecurity compliance. I also helped a fintech firm manage its IT infrastructure and secure its environment. After a while, I realized that while I loved the legal side of things, it really didn’t hold a candle to my interest in cybersecurity and privacy. So, after a number of years as a solo practitioner, I took down my shingle and went full bore down the security and privacy road, helping organizations in healthcare, finance, and fintech develop and implement their security, privacy, and risk management strategies.

Today, I work for Trace3, a national technology solutions firm, and help organizations of all sizes understand their current security and risk posture, as well as develop and implement meaningful strategies to reduce their overall risk. I started this site to help organize some of my thoughts and to provide more information to the public discourse on cybersecurity and privacy.

I appreciate you stopping by and I hope you come back soon!
